Mapco Group is Scotland's leading dehydration and surplus food management business. We are experts in dehydration technology and we supply our fish products globally. We run Scotland’s largest dehumidification plant from Peterhead, a fishing port at the heart of the fishing industry in North-East Scotland. It’s this proximity to the North Sea which allows us to source fresh, high-quality fish.
Today we supply large quantities of dried cod and haddock fish heads to the African market. Our containers are shipped to Africa direct from Peterhead harbour.  Fresh fish are landed locally, quickly processed then exported.

Leaders in Innovation

Mapco’s focus is on market innovation. We are currently undertaking ground-breaking research into new ways of dehydrating vegetables, pelagic fish, salmon and other foods like cheese and chicken.  Mapco specialises in finding and extracting nutritional value in the food chain.

Our new processing facility is currently under construction at Peterhead Harbour and is due to open in 2014.  This will give us greater capacity and flexibility to meet demand, and include a state of the art Research and Development section. We use Closed Loop wind tunnel driers which meet exacting EU Standards and can deliver product all year round. This will make us Scotland’s largest and most modern dehydration facility.

Background

Mapco was established in 2009 by Nasar Rashid, a businessman with a strong International background in trading commodities. Nasar spent many years sourcing, buying and selling goods across Continents, and has travelled widely across Asia and Africa.

Mapco Foundation established

The vision for Mapco Group is to be more than a successful trading business. The Goup has has established the Mapco Foundation, a charitable trust working with the less well off in Africa. By helping local people establish self-sustaining businesses the Foundation hopes to help build communities and lives.

Mapco Incubator Fund launched

Mapco Group have recently launched the Africa Incubator Fund, and are actively researching areas for ethical investment opportunities on the African continent.
